How Many Byes for 12 Players?
With 12 players, your bracket will use a 16-player draw with 4 byes. The top 4 seeds receive first-round byes and advance directly to round 2.
This means 8 players play in the first round, while the top 4 seeds wait for round 2. Byes always go to the highest seeds — this is both a reward for higher ranking and ensures the bracket stays balanced.
Recommended Format for 12 Players
Single elimination with feed-in consolation. Top 4 seeds get byes. Consolation ensures everyone plays at least 2 matches.
