How Many Byes for 12 Teams?
With 12 teams, your bracket will use a 16-team draw with 4 byes. The top 4 seeds receive first-round byes and advance directly to round 2.
This means 8 teams play in the first round, while the top 4 seeds wait for round 2. Byes always go to the highest seeds — this is both a reward for higher ranking and ensures the bracket stays balanced.
